  Case: Hygiene
Albert is a 20 year old student in a self contained classroom. He continually is arriving to school with severe hygiene issues. His parents say he is bathed daily. From the evidence he is exhibiting the bathing is not happening. What is the best way to address this issue?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
I would first address this issue by giving a personal hygiene lesson within the classroom. Chances are he is not the only one that is not taking care of himself properly. This could be beneficial for all students. Albert may bathe daily but not using soap or washing his hair/body correctly therefore a lesson on how to do so may be necessary. Discussing Alberts hygiene with him during personal sessions could also be affective. Next, I would attempt a conference with the parents to express concern. Albert may need a checklist of things to do in the morning such as putting on deodorant, brushing his teeth, putting on clean clothes, etc. His parents could be able to keep an eye on his morning cleanliness routine. If nothing changes at this point, I would bring the issue to the school counselor to see if they have any ideas, come up with a better solution, and have a more effective way to address the issue.
