Case: Take it out?
A teacher I just interviewed has a nose piercing, and her eyebrow pierced. She is one of the most beautiful women I've ever met, and she is highly qualified. I am afraid parents won't like this teacher because of this situation. Should she take them out?

I would take them out because I know your odds go up when it comes to getting hired. However if you would like to wear nose and eyebrow piercings once you start working wear them so they can at least tell you its not allowed, or they will know who they are hiring. |

Comments: This solution is the least helpful because it means judging someone based on their physical appearance. How can we teach our students not to discriminate if we as adults are?
Judge the potential teacher on her abilities, credentials, and teaching talent. |
