Case: Oh the politics
Working in my church as a teacher was a dream come true. I love my church and enjoyed the people who go there. Our school got a new director. I had suspension of physical abuse to a child in my classroom so I brought it her attention. She told me to keep documentation on the situation and take pictures. I did. Then as things continued the mother came to me and told me her husband was hot tempter. I brought this to the directors attention. She told me that the parents went to the church and were very involved and I was wrong. She told me if I pursue it I would end up fired...

You have the legal obligation to report child abuse. If your job is threatened by that, you should go above their head. If she fires you for this, seems like you should hire a lawyer. I'm sure they wouldn't want a lawsuit from that. Do what is legally and morally right. If you teacher for a church, then you obviously have religious beliefs. Talk to the pastor of the church for guidance, but, do the right thing and get help for the child. |

Comments: I feel this solution is also helpful, I don't believe that you could be fired on these grounds. I'd document everything. |
