  Case: Gifted with bad behavior
When I was interning in a fifth-grade classroom, there was a girl that was considered gifted. She was very intelligent and her work definitely showed for it. However, she was very disrespectful and disobedient. What could the teacher do to deal with this student?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
First, I would try to figure out if there is an underlying issue deep down. Sometimes students are going through something they dont normally share. Next, I would start a reward and punishment system with her. Good behavior means something positive and bad something negative.

Comments: I feel that this solution is very fair and understanding of the emotions of the student. Sometimes kids act out because they don't have the control they would like to have in another aspect of their life.

Comments: I would definitely try to figure out if there is an underlying issue with the student first then do the reward punishment system if this still doesn't work and if they are still disobedient I would have a meeting with the parents

Comments: I would try to find out if there was something else going on with her as well. All people carry the weight of difficult situations with them and she may be bogged down by something.

Comments: Reflect on the lesson as well, if a gifted child is bored what else is there for them to do than get into trouble?

Comments: I agree but I would also consider that she might be bored with the material since she is most likely a level or two above her classmates. Maybe rewarding her with an activity that she enjoys after she completes her work?
