  Case: Crying in the classroom
In a kindergarten classroom, one boy cries very often. He cries upon arrival and transitioning through the morning. He does not cry during centers, but when it is time to do CVC words at the carpet or table work he cries. I feel it is a means of escape or attention but the co-teacher will baby him into compliance. What could be done?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
Keep trying to get him to do the work and talk to the parents about his crying.

Comments: "Keep trying" is not something we'd say to a student who's struggling. We'd try to find a solution. The same applies to the teacher. Obviously she is trying, or else she wouldn't be in this situation. Handing it off to the parents is not a solution, because the parents aren't there when it happens. It's not something they can fix at home because it is a school issue.

Comments: Not a great solution because I am sure this behavior was learned at home. You need to break it at school, the crying.
