  Case: Gifted with bad behavior
When I was interning in a fifth-grade classroom, there was a girl that was considered gifted. She was very intelligent and her work definitely showed for it. However, she was very disrespectful and disobedient. What could the teacher do to deal with this student?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
I have seen this a lot. Some gifted students often feel as if they are invincible, and my teachers have blatantly put those students in their place. You are the adult and they are the child.

The suggested solution is reasonable (easy) for the teacher to implement Yes
The suggested solution is likely to solve the problem/issue Yes
The suggested solution is original Yes
Comments: I feel like these are the kids that want to "teach" the class. I have had a gifted student in the room who would always quickly finish her work and try to go around telling the other students what they need to do.

Comments: Putting a child in their place is a bit harsh. There may be more to the story with the student than the teacher knows. We must keep in mind that students do not always have the best home life and if there is an issue there the student will act out. Students need to be uplifted by teachers, not put into a subservient position. Respect is important, but putting a child in their place does not earn respect.

Comments: This is not how I would handle this situation. I don't think this solution is helpful in solving the problem at hand and it is not respectful to the student either.
