Our school got a new director. I had suspension of physical abuse to a child in my classroom so I brought it her attention. She told me to keep documentation on the situation and take pictures. I did. Then as things continued the mother came to me and told me her husband was hot tempter. I brought this to the directors attention. She told me that the parents went to the church and were very involved and I was wrong. She told me if I pursue it I would end up fired... Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!) You need to report this immediately to the department of children and families. As a future teacher you have a responsibility to report all cases of abuse even if they are just a suspension. the church can not fire you for reporting a case of abuse because if something were to happen to the child and they would die you would be legally responsible for that death because you did not report the abuse when you noticed it. It is a tough situation to be in but as a teacher you are a mandatory reporter of abuse no matter who the parents are. Also i agree you need to report the church director for negligence.
