Case: What kind of colleagues would you find it difficult to work with? Why?
If you are asked this question in a job interview for a teaching position: What are some things you should avoid when responding to this question? What might be some important points to stress that would get the interviewer's attention? How would you respond to this question?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
The number one thing that should be avoided when answering a question like this is bring up any past problems that you might have had with any co-workers. This is a red flag for employers and they might take it to mean that you are a trouble maker or have problems getting along with others, and quite frankly, why would anyone hire someone who will only cause problems in the workplace. This being said you must also be honest, don't lie and say that you've never had a problem if you have, just focus on what you learned rather than describing what has happened. For instance, you could say... Based on past experiences in the work place I can say that maintaining professionalism in the work place is very important to me. Everyone should learn to be respectful of each other and we should go out of our way to make the work place a welcoming place for everyone, however, we must remember that we are here to work and teach students, not to make friends. I believe that having this mindset keeps the workplace professional for everyone.

Comments: If I were in this situation, I would do exactly this. I feel that by sharing what you learned from past experiences rather than the negative experience itself can look better to an interviewer because it shows that you have grown.
