  Case: Wads of wet paper!?!
There is a issue of students wadding up wet paper towels and throwing them onto the ceiling. The principal has removed the paper towels and replaced them with air dryers, however, now the student(s) are using toilet paper. You suspect that it could be one of your more difficult students, but have no proof other than the smirking and laughing when they return from using the restroom. How would you handle the situation to prove/disprove your theory?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
I had a similar situation occur in a classroom I assist in; as a solution, the teacher created a bathroom log, and students had to sign-in in order to use the restroom. The expectation was also set that students were act as bathroom monitors, and should they notice paper, or any other undesirable bathroom behavior, to let the teacher know prior to using restroom.

Comments: I would use this solution, I think a bathroom log will hold students accountable and if they are the culprit they will be punished for their destructive behavior.

Comments: Additionally, there could be a bathroom monitor assigned to check the bathroom prior to the student using it, and after. Unfortunately, in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades, the boys (sometimes the girls but...) bathroom and messes is an ongoing problem. If it is clean before use by a particular student and not after he has used it; busted.

Comments: I've seen these bathroom logs used in classrooms before. I think they're a great idea but I often noticed that many students did not use them properly. With proper use and direction following these ideas would help solve the problem.

Comments: I think this is the best idea. Making sure they go one at a time is important so they are not misbehaving together and instigating each other to do these things.
