The school translator or ESOL teacher may need to evaluate it beforehand to make sure there aren't any issues with phrasing, etc. Taking a letter home also eliminates the problem of a parent potentially not having email access. Translators are not always a good tool to use. Things could get misinterpreted and the parents will thing you're talking about something else when you're not. Relying on an internet translator is not always accurate and also hoping the parents respond to an email is not always the best way to get parents involved. Especially if they cannot understand the email you send out. Online translators can be extremely helpful but make sure that it is one that you can rely on before you send anything home, some of the translations could be incorrect and this could cause even more confusion.
