The next day, he explains his favorite things. He disrupts lessons in order to go into detail about himself. How do I give him attention without taking away fro the lesson? Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!) I have had similar situations as an intern in low SES areas that a majority of students do not have a prominent father figure. I like to use verbal reinforcements for behaviors that are acceptable. Let the student know that you notice them and you are proud of their work. This will drive them to keep working hard and doing the right things.
