  Case: Skipping
I have students that will skip class every day. I have build rapport with my students so they stopped skipping my class, but they keep skipping other core classes. I do not know how to get my students to care about school or their future. I tell them I will write them up, or call their parents, but it does not seem to upset them. How do I get my students to care about school and about their futures?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
I think that it is extremely hard to get students to care about school and their future. One thing that comes to mind that may be able to help is to find something the students are passionate about and try and take that away from them. If their is a student who is on one of the schools sports teams, talk to the coach and threaten suspension from games if they do not start coming to class.

Comments: yes this could work but it is not a healthy way to go about it especially by causing students to possibly be cut from the things they enjoy at school.

Comments: Not everyone likes school that is a given. Sometimes they have more going on than skipping maybe they work and need money in their home and feel that is more important. Definitely communicate with the student and try to see if you can find a solution that will get the student to finish school and want to build a better future.

Comments: I think it's a bad idea to just completely remove things from the student, maybe if the student is passionate have the coach by a helpful asset.

Comments: Threatening students to take away their passion like sports will only make the students act back not in the right way. A better way could be talking to the coach and have them sit down to have a one on one to figure out what is going on. If someone does not do exceptionally well in academics they need other positive influences like sports to keep them out of trouble or help get a scholarship.

Comments: This solution may actually promote more negative behavior from the student. Taking away something important to them (such as a sport) may make them angrier which would make them continue to skip class and not care about school. Instead of talking to a coach for instance about a suspension, maybe you could talk to the coach about ways you can collaborate to encourage the student.
