Case: Elopement
I have one student with autism that is starting to exhibit eloping behaviors. I call the office when I see the antecedent behaviors taking place but he almost walked off campus the other day before someone was able to find him. How can I prevent him from partaking in this behavior?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
The student must always be monitor |

Comments: Okay the student should be monitored, but what are other ways the school and faculty can help keep the student engaged. |

Comments: This student is more than likely already being constantly monitored, due to being diagnosed as ASD. So this solution is unhelpful. |

Comments: Although I do agree that the student should always be monitored, this may not be a solution that can be readily available at all times. If the student leaves the classroom, the classroom teacher can not leave the rest of their class to follow the student around campus at all times. |

Comments: While a good wish, as a teacher you just may not always have the time or recourse to watch a child and hold their hand all day. Unless the student gets a one-on-one, this solution is just not tangible. |

Comments: I'm sure the teacher already monitors the student as much as possible and it is impossible to always monitor one of several students all the time. That would be ineffective and unproductive. |
