Case: Student being inappropriate to teacher
I have a boy, around 18 years old, in my class that I am interning at that loves to make sexual comments at me and talk about me in a sexual way to his friends for amusement. I have tried everything I can to stop this student from doing this, including going to administration. Nothing has changed! My CT tells me to ignore him and he will stop. I am not comfortable with this and I do not want it to escalate to other students. What should I do?

There should be school or district policies in place for how to handle this sort of behavior. I would ask your CT or administration what those policies are because you’ll want to follow them.
I would reassert yourself as the teacher, and let students know what appropriate communication looks like in the classroom.
Model to students how mature and appropriate students behave and set high expectations for them. |
