Case: Hygiene
How does one approach hygiene issues such as body oder in the classroom without making kids feel uncomfortable and embarrassed?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
Since this is a difficult topic for all parties involved, it could be better to have a class discussion about taking care of ourselves. You could involve the school nurse who might be able to provide the students with personal hygiene products to use. It can be very informative in an informal way that doesn't single any one person out or makes someone feel completely uncomfortable. |

Comments: I believe this is the best solution because it will educate and remind students the importance of personal hygiene, without singling any students out and embarrassing them. Confronting students individually about their personal hygiene should be avoided whenever possible since it may make them feel uncomfortable, anxious or insecure in class. Having an educational lesson about hygiene presented by the school nurse will make sure the topic is strictly informational and not humiliating. |

Comments: Allowing for an entire class discussion works because then not one student feels singled out. Involving the nurse is a good idea too. |

Comments: The students with this also then know that they can rely on the nurse if they need anything |
