Case: The Student Who Shouts Out
I have one student that loves to shout out the answers in class. He gets frustrated when he does not get to answer, so he just shouts out the answer to everything. I constantly remind him to raise his hand and give others a chance, but he is still shouting out. What can I do to help this student learn to not shout out?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
I think that it would be good to acknowledge the students who have their hands raised and ignoring the student who shouts out. When calling on students who have a "quiet raised hand" will praise the student and also make the student who shouts out aware of his behavior and that you aren't going to accept it anymore. This is beneficial because it gives other students praise while also making your expectations clear about how you want students answering questions.
