Case: Group presentations
After my class completes a group project I usually ask who wants to present/speak out of the group then after the student presents I ask if the others wanted to add anything. Is this the right way to go about presentations or should I have everyone say something?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
I think this is okay if not only one student is asking/answering questions. If you can see that only the same kids are answering all the time, if not you can call on other students or pick at random. |

Comments: I do not feel that this solution is helpful because it gives no solid constructive criticism and would not seem to solve the problem. If it is a group presentation, all students should be participating. |

Comments: I have always been a more shy and anxious student and I have personally experienced an increase in anxiety when being called on at random. I think this can be too forceful and emotionally-charged for students like me. This can even go so wrong that a student may be even more influenced to not participate. I think it is better to take baby steps and support that student in coming out of their shell on their own. |

Comments: I personally don't think this is a good solution. All students of the group should contribute to the project and present their part so they all receive participation points. |
