Case: Are reflections the best answer for consequences?
When we have a student at our school that gets a discipline referral, their consequence is to write a 1/2 page reflection letter and an apology note to the teacher. This consequence has no effect or meaning to many students, especially the older ones. What are some other consequences that our administration could try?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
Using writing as a punishment is not a great solution because students will later connect writing essays with being in trouble.
Depending on the misbehavior, there are various consequences you can utilize. Instead maybe they will have detention, or a silent study hall period, or some sort of privilege taken away.
