Case: Gossiping
How do I deal with the gossiping that goes on in class?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
If this were a problem in my classroom I would first talk to the students individual about why gossiping is bad, I would them see if it continued. If it continued I would move the students that are gossiping away from each other hoping that this would solve the problem. If this does not solve he problem then I would assign a detention or seek an administrators help. |

Comments: I agree with eventually getting an administrators help, but even if you separated the children gossiping it will not stop them from gossiping at lunch or in an elective; therefore, it is not taking care of the issue. |

Comments: If it is harmful, then speaking with the students one by one to open the lines of communication would be a good idea. Why is this occurring and what can be done to stop the occurrences. These are social issues that are usually addressed by visits to the classroom from guidance about this and other subject matters. Detention is not a viable solution. |

Comments: Gossiping in itself requires at least two. Having a group conversation about the issue and its consequences is more likely to solve the behavior. |
