Case: Teaching Styles
I am in a classroom with my CT and we have totally different teaching styles. She can be somewhat harsh to the students and quick to want to get them in trouble. I tend to give the students a fair shot and give them a chance to fix their behavior. I haven't brought this up to the attention of my CT because it hasn't been a problem. Should I bring it up to her?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
I think you two should sit down and have a conversation about it for sure, however not in a way that would make it accusatory. I would sit down with her and say "I noticed our teaching styles are completely different, and I want to see if there was a way we could make it so Co-Teaching isn't as confusing for the students." That way it shows that no one is at fault, and that she may decide to hold back a bit and try to let you do it in your style.
Other then that, that's about as much as you can do. The reality is that she is the CT and this is her classroom. If you can't get anywhere with it just try to take notes on what you want to implement and what you don't want to implement in your future classroom. |

Comments: I would also use this solution. Having an open conversation with the other teacher can ensure that you two are able to work together to ultimately benefit your students. |

Comments: I would do exactly this. Being able to sit down with the CT to find out her perspective on how to control a classroom might help with understanding on why she does this. However if you still do not agree then taking notes on what you would like to do in your future classroom is a great idea to. |

Comments: The best thing you can do in this scenario is to avoid confrontation. Besides, while we may not like to think it, it's always possible that our personal teaching style is the least-efficient one. It's better to try to work together than to assume you are the only one in the right and that everyone else is wrong. |

Comments: This is a wonderful solution! There are numerous different teaching styles, and sometimes it's good to adopt the best elements of all of them. |

Comments: This is what I would do in this situation. Although it is her classroom, you should have the opportunity to teach how you prefer to teach- or else the experience you are getting isn't all that helpful. I can see how this could be confusing for the students, but hopefully you can compromise. |
