Case: Sleeping Student
A student constantly falls asleep during class. You wake them up several times but they just fall back asleep. What is the best way to handle this? Do you bring it up to the parents? Do you let the child sleep? Is it fair to the other students to let the child sleep?

The other students should not be permitted to sleep. I would document the number of times the student is sleeping for the parents and in case administration would need to get involved. I would let the parents know immediately. |

| Comments: Great strategy to document the the child sleeping. This will give the parents and administration a record of evidence. Once the parents are involved this problem should be cleared up. If not administration needs to be notified. |

| Comments: I agree with this, but if the student seems genuinely tired then I would let them sleep because they won't be able to learn other wise. |

| Comments: Sometimes the easiest solution can be brought about by involving the parents in this kind of situation. It could be that the student stays Up at night without the parents knowledge, in which case the parent can be more vigilant. Great solution. |

| Comments: I do think getting administration involved is a bit over kill for a student sleeping in class. The student may have external causes for this, and the administration would probably make the student feel bad about this. I do agree with reporting the issue to the students parents though. |
