Case: Black Face
A group of students showed up today wearing black face to my classroom. I immediately sent them to the bathroom to wash it off and sent a letter home.
The principal has called for an assembly to discuss the severity of their actions and I feel moved to give my testimony.
As a new teacher, would that be wise?

I think that is a very good idea. The issue is being addressed school wide, but because it is happening in your classroom I think it will help students understand there will be no tolerance in your classroom. |

| Comments: It is absolutely wise for this teacher to give testimony, it will show integrity and as you put it, be an example, showing the other students, and these, that that kind of appropriation and discrimination is simply not tolerated. |

| Comments: I agree with this solution because although it already sounds like the school is handling it, your students need to specifically be aware that this behavior won't be tolerated in your classroom, where it was presented. Because your students are most likely most familiar with you, seeing your strong stance on this issue could be beneficial. |
