Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!) If the student does not take initiative in participating, I would try assigning them a specific task to complete within their group. Tell the student what you would like them to do. I think that taking the student out of the group wouldn't be helpful. I think it more just disolves the issue at hand. This student would likely feel negative emotions as a consequence of being isolated and punished in this way.
