  Case: Lunch Money
I saw a child standing in the hallway crying because he didn't have his lunch money says left it on the counter at home is it appropriate for me as a teacher to buy that child a lunch?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
I as his teacher would not pay for his lunch, other students are watching and waiting for the response you will give.Just like a muffin or candy another student will forget their money the next day an expect you their teacher to provide money for them. When a student does not have any money or has forgotten their money at home the school cafeteria provides them with a credit slip. That slip allows them to get a lunch and reminds their parents to pay or set up an account if the student frequently forgets money. The cafeteria will not allow a student to go hungry.

Comments: In some cases they don't have credit slips. If this is the case I would rather give a student my lunch then let them go hungry.

Comments: while this is the practical and fairest response, it may also be the cruelest. food is a basically need for survival and as long as it is not a daily thing, and other students aren't made too aware, it should be a problem. letting the parents know would also be necessary

Comments: I do not agree with this solution and I would not recommend this. The teacher should try to be empathetic towards this situation. If buying the student lunch is not a feasible option, the teacher could try to provide a snack for them or go with them to the cafeteria to get something for a lunch. Students should not go hungry at school.

Comments: This is not what I would do. I disagree with this post because their is a chance that their school does not provide anything for students' who don't have lunch money and they could do it discretely.

Comments: This was a good solution post because you are absolutely right about the cafeteria. The cafeteria staff would not let a student or a kid go hungry. They would write a slip, charge the account, send a note home, or get the student id number, or even just give them a meal. Kids won't go hungry when there is so much food for them to eat.
