Case: Everyone should be treated equal
Why are ESE children place in general education classes if they cannot be disciplined like the general education students. They fought for the right to be treated equal and not to be viewed as different, yet they can do bodily harm to others with no consequences. I watched a student physical destroy a classroom, spit on the teacher and kick another student in the face and all that happened is she was redirected and asked to calm down. A general education student does the same thing and gets three days suspension. Why are they not given the same consequences?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
There should be services which include specially designed instruction to meet the unique needs of the child in a classroom. I agree ESE children should not be placed in general education classroom.

Comments: I disagree. This contradicts effort for all students to be given equal opportunities to learn and succeed. The type of classroom is not the issue because this behavior will persist in any classroom. The issue is what is being done about it.

Comments: While I agree with the idea that general education would not good for all ESE students, I don’t think that it is fair to purposefully exclude them. I think that any student can be in general education as long as there are supports.

Comments: ESE students should be placed in their least restrictive environment so that they have the most valuable educational experience possible. It is not a good solution to separate these students from their peers just because they experience behavioral difficulties.
