Case: Teacher uses illegal drugs on weekends.
I was in my first week of my first internship and a neighboring teacher came into my CT's room and was telling her how she had gotten really high (marijuana) that weekend and is looking forward to doing the same the next weekend. My CT quickly changed the subject and we never spoke about it. Should I have said something to the administration?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
This could be a code of ethics concern potentially. However, it definitely should not be discussed in the school where students could hear the conversation. You could bring it up to your CT to see what they think about it. I'd also look into your states code of ethics for teachers to see if it goes against it. If so, then you could talk to administration, but I would talk with your CT first. And you could have a conversation with that teacher and your CT to talk about how this is not a conversation that should be had at school. |

Comments: I agree you should speak to your CT about it as you haven't yet, before potentially getting this person fired
but it is absolutely inappropriate to be talking about at school |

Comments: I think this is the best solution because of the clear and concise answer that allows the intern in this situation to know what is expected and what they should do about this teacher. |

Comments: I agree that if you choose to have a conversation with the teacher or administration make sure no students are around and it is behind a closed door. Never assume anything. One misconception can cost a teacher their reputation, or career. |

Comments: I feel this is an okay solution; however, I would also bring it up to the school's principal. |
