  Case: Slurs
Lately, whenever the Hispanic students in my class are participating in classroom discussions I have been hearing a certain group of kids talk about the wall that the president wants to build. I have told them several times to stop and am thinking about calling a meeting with their parents as that behavior is not tolerated.
Is this the best route or does anyone have a better solution?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
As their teacher I would review my collaborative group rules and expectations then depending on the grade level of the class I would consider forming a whole group discussion about this topic. It is something that is culturally relevant to your students background and something that is clearly important and concerning to them. It would be worth having an informative conversation about instead of demanding they stop talking about it. It is something that could potential effect them or someone they know. These types of discussions are best because they can be guided and monitored by the teacher and allow students to develop an understanding of other points of views and gain knowledge about current issues arising within their society.

Comments: I think as a whole can be addressed and as a whole can be asked that school is not the place to discuss it
