I now have them read at home, but over 75 percent of the students come back to school without their reading recorded. How can I motivate students to read at home because I have explained that this is part of the reason why their reading test scores are so low. Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!) Implement a contest where student have to read to their parents and parents have to read to their children. Have the parents sign off on a created document, you could also have your students create a short video of them reading w/ their parent or sibling whoever just as long as they are reading. Make it fun and appealing to your student to help get them engaged in reading.
