  Case: Divorce
Child is acting out due to the recent divorce of his parents. He says he is a bad kid. What can I do to help him?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
As mentioned before, it's helpful to reassure the student that he hasn't done anything wrong and that it's not his fault that his parents divorced. Providing constant reassurance and acknowledging good behavior could be helpful here. If your school has a school psychologist or guidance counselor, it could be helpful to reach out to them as well in order to help him.

Comments: I definitely think referring the student to a school counselor is a good step to take, in addition to the teacher letting him know they are there for him.

Comments: I agree with the general consensus. The student should be told that the divorce wasn't their fault and that they are not a "bad kid." encourage trips to the counselor, or help them find someone to confide in.

Comments: Introducing the school psychologist is one of the best things I think that can be done in this sort of situation as well as continuing to encourage and be there for the student.

Comments: I feel that this suggestion is the most reasonable. It is not easy for teachers to professionally address at-home issues, but they can give excessive positive encouragement and grace.

Comments: Totally agreed. The student has nothing to do with the parents divorce and the divorce does not make them a bad child

Comments: Also coming from a divorced family, reassuring the student that they had nothing to do with their parent's decision will implement a sense of ease to the child. Utilizing mental health resources is also a positive approach to changing negative behavior.

Comments: I strongly agree with reaching out to the schools guidance counselor. My teachers did this and it helped me understand my parents divorce.
