She tells myself and my CT that she does not like other kids her age and doesn't have any interest in making friends. What can or should be done for this student? Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!) Read aloud time could benefit this student greatly. It creates a sense of community and may make her feel more comfortable within the classroom. I'd also dig a bit deeper to see if there are issues outside of the school setting. Try having a one on one lunch with your student where you get to know her. If she sees that she can trust you, she may be willing to open up more to her fellow classmates.
