  Case: I couldn't help it!
I'm a teacher that loves to get personable with her students. I show them that I care about them outside of my classroom. One night, I was supporting my students at a basketball game and one of my students needed a ride home from the game. She attempted to call her grandparents, parents, but no one answered. It was very dark outside. I decided to give her a ride. Is this against the code of ethics?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
While this technically violates the code of ethics (you are driving a student off-campus), leaving a student in a dangerous position is also an unethical thing to do.

I believe any teacher who cared about their students would do the same thing you did. Personally, I would call your principal and discuss what the best option is to complete. This also leaves records of everything that takes place in case anything were to go wrong. Your principal should know what to do in this position and it's entirely possible that there is a serious reason why parents never picked up the call.

(I'm referring to dangerous reasons here, such as worst case scenarios. We have to be prepared for any situation these days and need to make sure students are safe at all times, including basketball games on a dark night)
