Case: Off topic / unrelated discussions
Every time my teacher puts the students in groups they just talk about topics unrelated to the class and usually always get off topic. How can she address this problem without singling these students out?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
She can make eye contact and stand next to these groups.

The suggested solution is respectful of the individual (student) No
The suggested solution is relevant to the case Yes
The suggested solution is reasonable (easy) for the teacher to implement Yes
The suggested solution is likely to solve the problem/issue No
The suggested solution is original Yes
Comments: This is not a very useful way of making sure the students are on task. The use of eye contact could come across as glaring at the students and that is a fear-based tactic that is in no way respectful or useful in any situation. The use of eye contact should be met with the teacher saying something in addition, not just eye contact.

Comments: This is not what I would do in this situation because it is not likely to solve the problem. Instead it may make children uncomfortable.
