Case: Substitute problems
I once had a substitute come help in a classroom with ESE students who are extremely high needs. The substitute made a comment about the students being “vegetables” this made me extremely uncomfortable and upset. What should I have done in this situation. The sub was only there one day.
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
I would inform the principal and tell them that you do not want them subbing inside your classroom. I may even contact the substitute director at district and inform them of what happened. This behavior is not acceptable under any circumstances. |

Comments: Contacting administration is the first step, and not having them back in your classroom is very important. |

Comments: This is inappropriate behavior. My advice is to speak to your principle. That kind of careless behavior can scar children. It may not have meant much to the sub but that is likely to stay with your students for a while. I wouldn't want that sub back in my classroom. |

Comments: I think this is the appropriate course of action because they are obviously not suited to work with ESE students. |

Comments: Contacting someone higher up is a good solution to make sure it is known and that the sub will not be in your class again. |

Comments: Informing the principal is a good start. I would not let the sub come back to the school. |
