  Case: Blurting Out
The year has gotten off to a great start except for one thing. In one of my classes, I have a student who seems too eager to please, and blurts out answers to questions whenever I try to have a teacher-led discussion. What should I do?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
Reestablishing rules and procedures can help remind the student of what is acceptable behavior. If that does not change anything, giving the student a sticker chart to keep at his desk or with the teacher during the teacher-led discussion. The student will get a sticker for every time he waits to be called upon rather than blurting out, when the chart is filled the student may receive 5 minutes of free reading time or something similar. This can also be used as a way to track the number of times he blurts out. For every time the student blurts out they get a tally mark and if they reach a certain amount then they lose a privilege such as unable to use a certain toy during recess.
