Case: ASL interpreter
While in the classroom there is an American Sign Language interpreter. The ASL interpreter refuses to help pass out paper as it is not his job. This includes passing it out to his deaf student. What would be a good way to communicate why I would like some help?

The ASL interpreter is not the assistant in the classroom. Offer him a copy of the papers you are handing out to the students ahead of handing them out. His job in the classroom is to interpret any and all instructions to the student who requires him to be in the classroom.
If you are needing some help, you can ask students to pass out papers. If you do not want students doing the work, talk to administration about having an assistant in your classroom. |
