  Case: Student physically acting out
I have a student who consistently acts out during class. He will get physical and pick up chairs and throw them across the room. Other students are in danger when this happens and every time we try to calm him down his behavior just worsens. We have tried to talk to parents and administration has been involved. What is the next step to get this under control?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
This student sounds like he needs some tough love. The principals office he goes.

The suggested solution is respectful of the individual (student) No
The suggested solution is relevant to the case No
The suggested solution is reasonable (easy) for the teacher to implement No
The suggested solution is likely to solve the problem/issue No
The suggested solution is original No
Comments: This is not a good solution as it is very harsh sounding and not at all what the child needs. I think that finding something they are good at and allowing them to have a behavior chart to earn their choice of activity may help combat the behavior. If not, then the guidance counselor sessions may be beneficial so that the student can talk out their feelings.

Comments: if the parents and administration has already been involved, "tough love" probably isn't a good solution.
