  Case: Treasure Box
Should students still earn treasure box on Fridays, if they had 1-2 bad days during the week? If the behavior sheets for the day ranged from Excellent, Satisfactory, Needs Improvement, to Unsatisfactory, this would mean that the student received 1-2 days in the "Needs Improvement" or "Unsatisfactory" levels of behavior.
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
With the treasure box, I would say it all depends on if the student has made an effort to correct and change the habits they exhibited on the days that they had bad days. For example, I work at an afterschool program and I reward the students on Fridays. We will put their names on the board if they push us enough but if I have seen that they has tried to turn their attitude around and start behaving badly, I am not going to punish them for having a off day.

Comments: I love this solution and would use it myself! I agree that if the behavior changes and the student is trying to make improvements then why should you punish them. Everyone has their bad days and there’s always room for growth!

Comments: I appreciate what you said here. Punishing students for their bad days can perpetuate feelings of guilt and shame for their actions when they are still learning!

Comments: I like that they would be able to correct themselves, they will see it is good to correct themselves from what they previously did

Comments: I agree that simply taking away treasure box is not enough, as the students need to exhibit if they have made any efforts to change or correct their behaviors! Great solution.

Comments: I like the idea of not punishing them if they are trying to correct their bad behavior. I feel there should be a strike policy where students can have a certain amount of "bad" behaviors until they lose their reward.

Comments: I totally agree. The goal of a behavior sheet is to get the student to change their behavior. perfect is the idea expectation but improvement in baby steps is also progress.

Comments: This is also a great solution and can serve as reinforcement for positive behavior when a child is excused for actually trying to be better.
