What is the best way to handle this? Do you bring it up to the parents? Do you let the child sleep? Is it fair to the other students to let the child sleep? Many times, if a student is sleeping in class it is either because they are bored of the lesson or exhausted because of other things going on in their life. If a student is falling asleep every day however, that is certainly something I would need to bring up to the student. I would ask them why they keep falling asleep and try to lead with empathy first before jumping to conclusions. If the student is not helping or providing any answers, I would notify the parents and let them know what has been going on and try to see if they know about anything going on at home.
