Case: One student answers all the questions I have one class a day where a student answers every question I ask. I oftentimes wait to see if others know the answer but they simply expect him to raise his hand and answer so they never do themselves. Many times I tell the class that someone else must answer but I do not want to do this for the entire semester, how can I encourage more participation out of the others and teach the other student about self-control. Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!) A possible solution to this would be to first acknowledge the student who is answering all your questions. Thank that particular student for being so eager to answer your questions and also remind your other students that he is not the only one present in the class discussion. The teacher could try calling on other students who had their hand up or turn the questions into think pair share so that everyone is required to participate. |
