What would you do to get the student to open up and start talking? Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!) I would set up pairs so the student doesn't feel singled out. There would be time to discuss assignments with their partner. There also may be time in which I give them free discussion time to share something they find interesting. This way it would help them talk in small doses rather than create a big change that would be even more umcomfortable.
