Case: Decorating without Distracting
I've heard so many mixed ideas about how classroom decorations can be distracting. Some teachers say "less is more," and others say that it is a way to bring excitement and a "home-like" feeling to a classroom.
What are some ways we can decorate our classrooms to be welcoming, yet not too distracting?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
While having too many things on the wall can become distracting, I feel the "less is more" attitude can sometimes create a disengaging environment. To create some welcoming yet nondistracting decorations, you could create a bulletin board containing information to inform students about upcoming school events and even make a space to display student work in the class. Whether it be instructional material, motivational quotes, phrases, organization devices, or decorations, I feel it is crucial to make sure anything you put on walls in the classroom has a purpose. |
