Before switching classes, the student would engage in class discussions and conversations with peers. Now, the student has entered a more significant "silent period" than before and heavily relies on using accommodations to communicate. How can I help them feel comfortable with speaking and using English again? Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!) I would reach out to the previous switch teacher and see if anything happened that caused this change. I would probably also contact the parents to see if they know anything that has happened at home. I wonder if the child was bullied, which affected learning and confidence. Once you get a little history you might be able to create a plan on how to help.
