I believe that having the connection with the students parents is always a nice way to show that you have care in their schooling as much as they do but how do you really do that? I think the other people had great suggestions, but I would also remember that not every parent will want to be as involved with their child's schooling as you would expect. Some parents might not see traditional education as a priority, so it might be harder to create a bond with them, but just be cordial with them.
