His mother has been called on several occasions, nothing has happened. This student is in Tier three for RTI. If you are required to RTI this student, what are some possible solutions to reach this student? Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!) In this case, the first thing I would consider is the student comprehending any of the information. I would provide small group work and when time permits one-on-one intervention support. From there, I would examine whether it is better to use supports in the classroom rather than in the classroom. It may not be that the student is intentionally not participating, it could be that the parents don’t understand, may be absent from working all of the time, or the student may be raised by a grandparent. Either way, try to make the child feel comfortable and that you care. Any additional precautionary measures will also need to be taken in consultation with school administration.
