Case: Communicating with parents
I am currently using the Remind app to communicate with my students' parents. However, I seldom get any responses from parents and have to constantly tell them to check the remind when they feel certain things were not communicated when in fact, they were. Should I switch to a different communication platform? Should I stick to my current one?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
I would send out a communication informing the parents of the Remind app again. On the communication I would list different options of communication, and inform them that the option with the most request will be the new method of communication. I would then send a second notice, informing them of the new method of communication and ask for a signature for acknowledgment. If there continues to be an issue after that, I would inform remind them of the signed form. |

| Comments: Doing this will give the parents a sense of control - it’s in their hands whether you change the app or not. It also proves you’re serious about the communication, but that you’re willing to change the method according to what the majority wants. The signature of acknowledgement is a way of covering yourself in the case of parents saying they were “unaware” of the changes. |
