I usually have them take the extra work home and bring it back but they have not been doing that. What are some suggestion I can do to alleviate this problem? Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!) I'd say a way to combat not having enough time to complete work is reorganize your lesson plan. You could incorporate more group work or discussions where everyone is to participate that way everyone has a chance to be more involved with the lesson. You could save independent work as a reflection of what they learned in class, that way the whole class has a chance to be more at the same pace. You could also make the reflection of the lesson a HW assignment so they think over what they did and use the beginning of next class to discuss.
