I think it has been great to get to know the student in their environment, but sometimes it's not a good one, and it can be hard. I find myself frustrated with the parents, and feeling bad for the students. Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!) i think home visits sometimes are important to help teachers understand the student's home life and incorporate that to their learning in school, but if you don't feel comfortable maybe you could meet them instead in a library or neighborhood playground.
