Case: Being taken seriously as a young teacher
Throughout various part and full time jobs that I have had, I have felt like I have not always been taken seriously. Whenever I addressed concerns to my employers or asked necessary questions, they would sometimes make rude remarks towards me, or tell me I was overreacting. My biggest fear as I enter my teaching career is that principals or co-teachers won't take me seriously because I am new and young. How can I prove myself to be taken seriously?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
I completely understand the fear and I think it's completely normal for new teachers to feel this way. I think start off by making a good first impression - Interviews, first days and introductions included. Dress appropriately, look professional and be prepared. You deserve to be there just as much as they do. They were all where you are now, they might have just forgotten it. Be confident in your abilities. Just do your best and I think everything else will fall in place.
