  Case: Decorating without Distracting
I've heard so many mixed ideas about how classroom decorations can be distracting. Some teachers say "less is more," and others say that it is a way to bring excitement and a "home-like" feeling to a classroom.
What are some ways we can decorate our classrooms to be welcoming, yet not too distracting?
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
Decorating a classroom is actually very important for fostering a welcoming and comfortable environment for students to learn in. No one wants to spend a good portion of their day in a dull, lifeless room where they're expected to learn in! A few good ideas for decorating the walls with would be informational posters, an expectations (rules) list, and projects that students have done about their families. The elementary classroom I observed in for a semester had a section of the classroom wall covered in the introductory project and had all the students' faces and families on it. This is a nice touch to making the classroom "theirs". We must avoid putting too much stuff up though because that's when the atmosphere can turn overwhelming.
