  Case: Shouting Out
I have a couple of students that cannot get into the habit of raising their hands. I am constantly reminding them not to shout out.
Solution: (Rates are posted for this solution!)
Some students struggle when it comes to raising their hands or waiting to be called on. In my first internship, I had a student who would consistently blurt out answers or whatever popped into his head. When this happens, we would redirect his energy into a discussion if it followed the content, or we would ignore the blurt out and move on. His IEP stated that he had a learning impairment, and this was one of the manifestations of it. We discussed the behaviors to the ESE team and they would develop strategies for us to try. I would look at the student(s) file and see if they have an IEP or 504 and take anecdotal records for each occurrence. Sometimes a student goes undiagnosed and it is the teacher that catches the behaviors.
